Back in 2011, I was all "I want to go to the San Diego Comic Con!" Last year, I basically said the same thing. This year, while I still echo the same sentiment from the previous years, I have decided to take the necessary steps to make it a reality. I mean I already got my passport, I have steady monthly income, why not see it through, right? Yeah I know it'll involve a hell of lot more than those two things, shut up. I just think making the decision to go is where it'll all start. At least now, whenever I think of going on another toy-buying binge, I'll have a "save money for comic con" option.

Right now, I'm looking at 2015 as a possible target date. I would love to go next year but I don't think a year is enough to save money for the trip, and 2016 just seems so far away. Also, I won't be alone. Hopefully. I sure would love to take Tin with me if she wants.

Anyway, now that that is out of the way, here are the things at this year's comic con that blew my mind.

It's that time of the year again when geeks of the world come together and partake in all things... uh, geeky: The San Diego Comic Con! This year, like the year before, was chock-full of wonderful things that at one point during Preview Night (I was monitoring the SDCC and ComicCon hashtags on Twitter), I almost went insane out of envy for the fuckers who were present there. True story.

Also, I may or may not have cried a few times.

Anyhoo, like last year's entry, I've compiled a bunch of things that caught my eye in this year's Comic Con.

Ask any comic book geek to name any place in the world he'd want to go to, where there are a ton of comic books, toys, majestic rainbows and happy smiles, where one can embrace geekery and not be ashamed of it and 7 times out of 10[1], he'd probably mention the San Diego Comic Con.

As a kid, I was made aware of this magical place by the now-defunct Wizard Magazine. Reading all those articles and seeing all those pictures I swore that someday, I would be there sweating and geeking out with hundreds of other fanboys. Almost two decades have passed, and I have yet to fulfill that dream. Thankfully, I have the internet to tide me over until that time comes.

Anyway, here are some of the SDCC happenings I saw the past few days that blew my mind.

As most of you probably don’t know, I am somewhat of a toy collector. This year, I was fortunate enough to snag me a 6” inch Iron Man from the Iron Man 2 movie line toy series. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the other two I wanted: the Iron Man Mark V armor (the one that turns into a suitcase) and the awesome but rare-as-a-fucking-unicorn War Machine figure. Earlier today, my half-sister (who lives in NY and whom I bugged months ago to try and look for said toys, too) Tweeted me about seeing a ton of Iron Man toys in a mall she was currently in, with pictures to boot. I instantly went “Jackpot!” in my mind.
