The Lazy Reviewer on: Eraserheads: The Heads Set

September 08, 2010

So you've probably heard about this little promo Greenwich is having, so I won't bore you with a lame introduction. Besides, if you're reading this, you more or less know already since I've done nothing but Tweet, plurk and Tumble(?) about it these past few days (sorry about that lol). All I'm going to say is that I think I've had enough pizza to last me a whole month.

And now, let's get right on to the good stuff: pictures! (and some sort of a review, I guess.)

Isn't it beautiful? I love the fact that they went and chose black as the main color for the whole thing. It makes it look more classy. The can feels kind of thin to the touch, but it's sturdy enough to serve its purpose.

Okay, confession time. Initially, I thought the box would come with an exclusive Eraserheads headset. Looking at the words on the side of the package, I now realize how I (and the ones who initially wrote about it) could make a mistake. There is no HEADSET. It's called THE HEADS SET. Duh, self.

The illustration on the box was done by Arnold Arre. Yep, the same Arnold Arre who created The Mythology Class and Martial Law Babies. You should check out the books sometime. They're awesome.

Upon opening, you'll see three items: a book, eleven discs (I counted them as one item of course), and a shirt. Let's check out the book first.

The book (the first one you see since it's on top and is almost the same size as the box) is divided into three parts: the first one contains a write-up entitled "The Eraserheads and History" by Robin Daniel Z. Rivera. There's also a buttload of Eheads pictures.

The second part lists the entire band's discography, as well as lyrics to ALL of their songs. Also, more pictures. Finally, the third part has nothing but pictures of the band with various people, friends and fans alike. Graphic Design and layout was done by Cynthia Bauzon-Arre, Arnold's wife. Cover by Arnold Arre.

Next up: the discs. There are 10 albums in all (Ultraelectromagneticpop!, Circus, Cutterpillow, Fruitcake, Sticker Happy, The Bananatype EP, Aloha Milkyway, Natin99, Carbon Stereoxide, and another one called Dirty Little Treasures), the eleventh being a DVD disc called Pop-U-Mentary. I was kind of expecting the audio CDs to be in their original cases and packaging, but I guess that would be redundant. Oh, and they are all "Digitally Remastered", as you can see on the picture above. The discs are arranged in chronological order, held in place by a small piece of foam. Said foam also separates it from the third and final item: the official The Heads Set t-shirt.

Like the box, the shirt is also black. Perfect for fatties like me. The illustration is a silver, kinda glittery color, done by Arnold Arre. It fuckin' rocks.

Will you look at that. It fits me perfectly. HUZZAH! I dunno if there are other variations of the shirt though. Also, I think the shirt comes in one size only.

Now, I know you're wondering: how the hell do I get my grubby little paws on this box set. Fortunately, I can help you with that! You need to buy:
  • (a) 3 Greenwich Overloaded Family size pizzas for P1,500++, and 3 Greenwich Bigatin Meals (consisting of a pizza, 4 pieces of chicken and a couple spaghettis) for P1,800++ (grand total: P3,300++). You then get the box set for free. Or;
  • (b) Buy one Greenwich Bigatin Meal for P2,500 and you get the box set free.
This promo is for dine-in or delivery. They’re using a Starbucks-type sticker system too, and you have till the end of October to complete all 6 stickers. I dunno if they're doing this on all Greenwich branches but to be safe, you can go to either SM North, SM Megamall, Robinson's Galleria, or SM Mall of Asia. These were the ones mentioned when me and some friends found out about it.

What are you waiting for? Go get yours while it's still available!

Edit: rewrote a few parts, as per Ma'am Cynthia Bauzon-Arre's Tweet. Thank you for the clarifications! :D

(Thanks to Ade, Marco and Charles for sharing Pizzapocalypse with me lol. Also to Bim, for helping me get the set. He also helped us wolf down the pizza. :D)

  4. Great review. The pictures helped a lot in conveying the quality of this product. Any idea what's included in the BIGATIN meal? I don't want to be eating pizza for the rest of the week >.<
