i saw the dark knight with karen last wednesday and as expected, it totally blew me away.

as everyone who already got to see the movie said, heath ledger was absolutely amazing. i've always seen the joker to be a, pardon the pun, a clown. granted, i've never really read a lot of batman comics to know any better but jeezus, he was really terrifying onscreen. you just know something really fucked up is going to happen when you see him. his role in the corruption of harvey dent was subtle yet effective. you knew it, but it was pushed so far in the background that when it finally came to a head you will almost pee your pants.

what's surprising is that for the most part, i never even thought of it as batman's movie (which kinda fits the twist in the end to a T). he was kinda relegated to a supporting role which was kind of strange but pleasant. the only thing that irritated me the most was his bat-voice. it was too forced in my opinion. everytime he spoke in costume, i had a hand to my throat. it was that painful. one other thing was the fight sequences. i mean, i know his armor is bulkier, but i would have liked to have seen a little more agility. he's a master of an assortment of martial arts for chrissakes. he kinda looked like a sluggish steven seagal to me. people can argue that he strikes at precise pressure points hence the limited but powerful movements but whuteva.

a great movie about the human psyche and it's inherent flaws, the dark knight is definitely one of my favorite comic-to-movie adaptations of all time.

  3. LOL @ Batman's Robocop voice, though I eventually got used to it. I wasnt that blown away by Heath Ledger's Joker, rry, most of my attention was on Christian Bale's pogi-ness, but I rawr-ed at the Joker's threats (if that makes any sense). Awesomecakes.
